Re: Return to “Train and Play” Cricket Plan and Season 2020/21 Membership Fees

We hope you and your family are well and doing the best you can in these crazy times.

We were unsure if we were going to see some light at the end of the tunnel in this ever-challenging climate, but we are very excited that there is light, and we are working on our return to “train and play” cricket plan.

Based on the current environment and the State Government’s roadmap, we expect cricket training for both seniors and juniors to resume from 26 October.

Games are set to commence from Wednesday 11th November for our junior girls’ teams and Friday and Saturday November 13th and 14th for our remaining junior teams. We expect that senior cricket will commence on Saturday November 21st. These dates are confirmed however, could change depending on COVID-19 cases and State Government direction.

We are currenting working with the VTCA, NWMCA and Cricket Victoria to ensure that once we return to train and play, we have procedures and process in place to minimise COVID-19 risk for all players, officials and supporters. Based on current information we expect there to be a significant cost associated with complying with COVID-19 training and playing requirements. This is in the form of extra cleaning of equipment and the three pavilions we utilise each season, regular hand sanitisation at training and games, purchasing of extra playing equipment as there is to be no sharing of equipment under the Cricket Victoria guidelines.

At this stage, we may not be able to host functions like we have in the past or operate our normal bar services and will again, be guided by the State Government. Rest assured, we are thinking outside the square to ensure we as a club and a community can come together this season. We are also very mindful that sponsorship this season may be less than in past years as the majority of our sponsors are small business owners who may have been impacted by business closures or decrease in operation.

We appreciate the impact that COVID-19 has had on many households and the uncertainty that COVID-19 brings. As a result, we have reviewed membership fees for the season ahead and are looking to move fees to a pay as you play model rather than a majority upfront fee model. While there will continue to be an upfront fee it has been greatly reduced compared to last season. We have also removed the $100 of reselllable raffle tickets for the Christmas Raffle. We will be replacing the Christmas Raffle with a new raffle and will provide more information on this in the coming days. Keep your eyes posted to socials as the prizes may just include a few new cars!

You will have received a link to a survey last week, if you haven’t already, please complete it via the link below (it will take 2 minutes). It will help us to plan our team numbers, and most importantly, what equipment we need to source for those who don’t have their own. Cricket Victoria guidelines state there is no sharing of equipment in both senior and junior cricket this season.
